“Otra Danza?” for saxophone quartet

This is a Latin inspired piece that has a smooth melodic line and a contrasting middle section. Two different written out solos are provided for the Soprano/Alto 1 and Tenor saxophone players who are less comfortable with improvising.  Chord symbols are also provided in the part if the players would like to express themselves.

Description

This Latin inspired piece opens with a familiar rhythmic groove that appears in sections throughout the piece. The tune relies on a smooth melodic line, with supportive backing from the rest of the quartet. There is  a contrasting middle section which provides an opportunity to feature the Soprano/Alto 1 player and Tenor sax. There are two different written out solos for this section and these are provided for players who feel less comfortable with improvising.  However, there are chord symbols provided in the solo parts if the player would like to express themselves freely.

‘Otra Danza?’ is written for a mixed ability quartet, approximately grade 3 – 5/6  but of course the improve section can include players of any level.
